Hoboken, NJ, â€” May 31, 2024 - Hoboken High School is excited to announce its pioneering partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to introduce a comprehensive dual enrollment program in Architecture, commencing this September.

The collaboration between Hoboken High School and NJIT represents a significant milestone in providing students with unparalleled opportunities to explore and excel in the field of architecture while still in high school. This innovative program will empower students to embark on a journey of academic and professional growth, preparing them for future success in the dynamic field of architecture.

Through this dual enrollment initiative, students enrolled at Hoboken High School will have the unique opportunity to take specialized architecture courses taught by Hoboken High School faculty, serving as NJIT instructors. This program will provide students with a head start in their higher education journey. Students may earn both high school and collegiate credits as a result of taking these courses. It will not only enrich their academic experience but also expose them to real-world architectural practices, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

"We are thrilled to partner with NJIT to offer this exceptional dual enrollment program in Architecture," said Damien Arnone, Director of Guidance Services, Assessments, and Data Management. "This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing our students with access to high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them for college and career success. We are confident that this program will inspire our students to pursue their passions and unlock their full potential in the field of architecture."

Robin Piccapietra, Principal, also expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Hoboken High School is dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in education, and we are delighted to collaborate with NJIT to launch this dual enrollment program in Architecture. By providing our high school students with collegiate experiences early in their academic journey, we aim to cultivate the next generation of architects who will shape the built environment and drive positive change in society."

Students engaged in this learning pathway will begin by taking two introductory Project Lead the Way courses in the areas of Engineering and Computer Science, followed by a Civil Engineering and Architecture course. As students continue on their architectural journey, they will then take Engineering Graphics, Introduction to CAD and Applied Computer Aided Design dual enrollment courses through NJIT.

The dual enrollment courses will offer a structured collegiate allowing students to gain practical skills and insights into the architectural profession. Additionally, students will have access to NJIT's state-of-the-art facilities, resources, and expertise, further enriching their learning experience.

Students who successfully complete the program will earn high school credits, along with college credits that are transferable to NJIT or other accredited institutions, providing them with a valuable head start in pursuing a degree in architecture or related fields. Moreover, they will receive mentorship and guidance from experienced faculty, helping them navigate their academic and career pathways with confidence.

The launch of the dual enrollment program in Architecture represents another significant step forward in fostering collaboration between secondary and higher education institutions, bridging the gap between high school and college. Hoboken High School and NJIT are committed to ensuring the success and well-being of all participating students, empowering them to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.
