Hoboken HS Debate shines in Paris

Hoboken HS Debate Program shine at Model U.N. Conference held in Paris

Hoboken High School Debate Program recently participated in an international college-level Model United Nations Conference held in Paris, France.


Hoboken HS was the only high school to participate in the United Nations conference securing 6 awards.



Hoboken, NJ, — June 25, 2024, The Hoboken High School Debate Program recently participated in an international college-level Model United Nations Conference held in Paris, France.  PIMUN was founded in 2011 by students from the most prestigious Parisian Universities, under the direction of the CINUP or the Inter- University Committee of the UN in Paris. 


Redwing Delegates were the only high school delegation to participate in the conference. Students engaged with experienced college-level delegates from  universities around the world. Students authored resolutions, promoted diplomacy, and even against more experienced, older delegates, emerged as leaders in their committees. During closing ceremonies the efforts of our Hoboken High delegates were acknowledged through committee chair shout outs and by winning six awards. 

  • Genevieve Fink represented Japan and won Best Delegate for her work on preventing abuse in commodity sourcing.  
  • Jacob Linder represented China and won an Honorable Mention for his work on preventing abuse in commodity sourcing. 
  • Zoe Magaletta represented Japan and won Best Position Paper for her position on climate change and human rights. 
  • Coby Kriegel represented Finland and won Best Delegate for his work on the Olympic Committee.
  • Amalia Batlle represented France and won Honorable Mention for her work on the Human Rights Council.
  • Abigail Scott represented France and won an Honorable Mention for her work on the Olympic Committee.After the conference, students had the opportunity to explore Parisian culture. They toured monuments, visited the historic catacombs and viewed Paris from the Eiffel Tower.

The Debate Program is grateful to the Hoboken Board of Education and the Hoboken Public Education Foundation for supporting this activity and for making this experience possible for the Hoboken Delegates.

The Paris International Model United Nations (PIMUN) is an annual model United Nations (MUN) conference taking place in Paris, France. It is run by the students of 11 Parisian universities belonging to the Paris Intercollegiate United Nations Committee.
